TAKE NOTICE, that the Town Board of the Town of Southampton hereby directs that a public hearing shall be held on December 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., at Southampton Town Hall, 116 Hampton Road, Southampton, New York, to hear any and all persons either for or against a local law entitled: “A LOCAL LAW amending Town Code Chapter 299 (Taxicabs and Vehicles for Hire) in order to modify the process for obtaining and analyzing an applicant's fingerprints.”
Summary of Proposed Law
These amendments are designed to modify the taxi law in order to reflect the current process utilized by the Town for fingerprint submission and analysis. Additionally, the law calls for a waiver of the fingerprint requirements when the applicant has already obtained a valid for-hire Vehicle License from the Suffolk County Department of Labor, Licensing and Consumer Affairs. This waiver will be removed from the law. Finally, these amendments will memorialize that all insurances required by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for operation of a taxi and/or livery are also required for licensing under Town Code.
Copies of the proposed local law, sponsored by Council Stan Glinka are on file in the Town Clerk’s Office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
