Create and Appoint Members to the Southampton Town Business Advisory Council

Financial Impact



WHEREAS, the Town of Southampton understands the importance of addressing the needs of its business community; and

WHEREAS, more recently, given the present economic decline, the Town has been even more cognizant of the struggles faced by local businesses, and the residents those businesses support; and

WHEREAS, as a result, the Town seeks to formalize the input of the business community by creating a Business Advisory Council; and

WHEREAS, the Business Advisory Council’s function would be to work with the Town, in an advisory role, to reach a balance between local government initiatives and the needs of local businesses; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Southampton hereby creates the Business Advisory Council, whose charge shall include working with the Town to provide advice and technical information on topics of concern, to promote and achieve a balance between the environmental, economic, and social needs of the Town, and to allow a more formal voice for the local businesses of the Town to be heard during the Town’s exploration and development of new initiatives; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the following individuals are hereby appointed to the Southampton Town Business Advisory Council for a period of one year:

              Bill Berkoski

              Rocco Carriero

              Jane Held

              Nancy McGann

              Shane Smith

              Bob Strebel, Jr.


              Ex-officio Supervisor Linda Kabot

              Ex-officio Councilman Chris Nuzzi
